2004 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the blower motor on 2004 Toyota Highlander?
A: Service or repair of the blower motor begins with removing the glove compartment door assembly then unscrewing air duct No.1 to disengage its 3 claw fittings and extract air duct No.2. The ECM needs to be separated after removing its two nuts and disconnecting it. Begin air filter sub-assembly removal after extracting cooler cover No.1 and proceeding to detach the air filter sub-assembly itself. Service of the blower assembly begins by first disconnecting both the cooling unit motor w/fan sub-assembly clamp and connector before separating the recirculation damper servo connector. Start by removing the 2 screws and bracket before taking out the bolt and nut and 2 screws to disconnect the part fitted to the air conditioner radiator assembly which allows complete removal of the blower assembly. People should remove the recirculation damper servo sub-assembly after removing its three screws. Start by removing the cooling unit motor sub-assembly with fan through the process of screwing out the three screws. Installing the blower assembly requires alignment of the components to the air conditioner radiator assembly followed by tightening with the bolt, nut and 2 screws until achieving a torque measurement of 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). Apply the bracket and two screws first and then install the connector and clamp. Conclude installation of the ECM by tightening its two nuts to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf).
