2005 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front Sway Bar Kit on 2005 Toyota Corolla?
A: Start repairs by taking out the front wheel from the vehicle. Detach both left-hand front sway bar link assembly nuts with care because the ball joint stud may turn along with it. Use a 6 mm hexagon wrench when needed to stabilize the stud. Perform this method again for the right side. Before securing the nut with a torque wrench turn it steadily for 2 to 4 seconds at a pace to reach the torque range of 0.05 to 1.96 Nm. Repeat this turning method five times before measuring the assembly's torque. You must separate the lower side of front suspension arm No.1 before disassembling the power steering rack gear on both left and right sides while suspending the engine. First detach the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly and remove the front sway bar kit by uninstalling 4 bolts alongside front sway bar bracket No.1 LH and No.1 RH as well as 2 front sway bar bushes No.1. Attach the new front sway bar kit in its space with 2 front sway bar bushes No.1 oriented toward the inside of the bushing stopper. Thread the 4 bolts and stabilize bar front into the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly using a torque measure of 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). Use Special Service Tool 09670-00010 to place the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly first then follow with rack & pinion and front suspension arm lower No.1 for both sides. Place the front sway bar links onto both sides and tighten their 2 nuts to 74 Nm (755 kgf-cm, 55 ft. lbs.). Refit the front wheel while screwing it to 103 Nm torque. Then confirm your adjustments to the front wheel alignment.
