- Q: How to service and repair the Air Bag Sensor Assembly Center on 2005 Toyota Avalon?A: Correct service and repair of the Air Bag Sensor Assembly Center begins with the implementation of essential Air Bag system safety precautions. Cut the cable that belongs to the negative battery terminal before waiting 90 seconds to avoid air bag activation. First remove shift lever knob sub-assembly, upper console panel sub-assembly, console box assembly, console box front, and console box duct No.1 from the assembly. Remove the holder with connectors from the Air Bag sensor assembly center before unfastening its three binding bolts. Before putting in the new Air Bag sensor assembly center maintain the ignition switch off along with disconnecting the battery negative terminal for at least ninety seconds. Secure the three bolts on the assembly first then tighten them to 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). Check for any installation looseness before connecting the holder with its connectors while making sure the water-proof sheet remains correctly installed. Reinstall the console box duct No.1, console box front, console box assembly, upper console panel sub-assembly and shift lever knob sub-assembly to the vehicle. The cable needs to be connected to the negative battery terminal to start Front Power Seat Control System initialization when battery power was interrupted or the D/C CUT fuse was changed or the power seat switch or assembly needed replacement or removal. The power seat ECU needs initialization involving two forward sliding actions and opposite movement of the seatback and both seat cushion and headrest positions. Conduct an inspection of the SRS warning light as the last step.
