- Q: How to replace the throttle body on 2005 Toyota 4Runner?A: The throttle body replacement process begins with draining engine coolant and unlatching the V-bank cover by unfastening its 2 nuts. The air cleaner assembly can be removed after disconnecting the vacuum hose and mass air flow meter connector then removing 2 wire harness clamps before loosening the 2 hose clamps and unfastening the 2 bolts. Begin by disconnecting water bypass hoses No.5 and No.4 before you remove the throttle w/motor body assembly through the removal of both throttle motor connector and 4 bolts which also include the throttle w/motor body and gasket. The new gasket should be installed with the throttle w/motor body assembly through four bolts that require 11 Nm (112 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf) torque value. The throttle motor connector needs to be reconnected afterward. Install the air cleaner assembly using two bolts which require torque specification at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf). Reinstall V-bank cover after connecting ventilation hose No.2 while tightening 2 nuts to 7.5 Nm (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf). The last step involves engine coolant addition along with leak inspection.
