2005 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the crankshaft position sensor on 2005 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The crankshaft position sensor replacement begins with removing the generator assembly before proceeding to detach the engine under cover assembly rear by undoing all four bolts. The cooler compressor assembly separation starts by removing its bolt to disconnect suction hose sub-assembly and cooler compressor assembly connector before removing 4 bolts for removing the cooler compressor assembly from the V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly. The replacement process begins with removing the crankshaft position sensor bolt and disconnecting its connector. Mild engine oil should be applied to the new crankshaft position sensor O-ring before installation with its bolt. Torque the bolt to 10 Nm (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) before connecting the crankshaft position sensor connector. The replacement process starts by reinstalling the cooler compressor assembly through 4 bolts that need torque at 25 Nm (255 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf). Afterward, reattach the cooler compressor assembly connector followed by securing the suction hose sub-assembly with its bolt torqued at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf). The procedure ends by reinstalling the engine under cover assembly rear with 4 bolts reaching 29 Nm (296 kgf.cm, 21 ft.lbf) torque before reinstalling the generator assembly.
