  • Q: How to replace the Knock Sensor on 2005 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The first step to replace the Knock Sensor requires the removal of the cylinder head sub-assembly and disconnection of heater water inlet hose A. Start by removing water outlet pipe No.1 through a process that requires unscrewing the 4 wire harness clamps and the 3 bolts from the pipe. The 2 knock sensor connectors need to be disconnected first followed by removing the 2 knock sensors with their attached bolts. The installation process involves reattaching the 2 knock sensors to their bolts while applying 20 Nm (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) of torque and reconnecting their 2 knock sensor connectors. Water outlet pipe No.1 needs reinstallation with 10 Nm torque (102 kgf.cm / 7 ft.lbf) followed by heater water inlet hose A connection and lastly reinstalling the cylinder head sub-assembly.
