2005 Scion xA Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to overhaul the A/C Condenser with receiver condenser assembly on 2005 Scion xA?
A: The first step to overhaul the HVAC condenser with receiver condenser assembly requires the use of Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 (07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080) to exhaust the refrigerant from the refrigeration system. First remove the radiator grille followed by taking out all 3 bolts from the hood lock assembly and the clip then the 2 bolts from the hood lock support sub assembly. Regulate refrigerant flow from cooler refrigerant discharge hose No.1 by removing its O-ring alongside bolt then apply vinyl tape to protect against unauthorized entry of moisture or foreign particles. The liquid tube sub assembly A requires disconnection while technicians need to remove its O-ring and apply vinyl tape to prevent opening infiltration. Start by removing the w/receiver condenser assembly through 2 bolts before proceeding to remove condenser bracket collar No.1 by taking out its 2 bolts. To prepare the cooler dryer for installation use pliers after using a 14 mm socket hexagon wrench to take away the cap and O-ring. Begin the cooler dryer installation with pliers and set a new O-ring onto the cap while applying equivalent or ND-OIL 8 compressor oil to the O-ring and cap surfaces before torquing the cap to 2.9 Nm or 29 kgf.cm or 25 in.lbf. Mount the two bolts into the condenser bracket collar No.1 before torquing them up to 3.9 Nm (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf). Afterwards, install the w/receiver condenser assembly with two bolts torqued up to 9.8 Nm (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). To install liquid tube sub assembly A start by removing the vinyl tape while applying compressor oil to a new O-ring and installing it to w/receiver condenser assembly with a bolt receiving 5.4 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) torque. To install cooler refrigerant discharge hose No.1, users must first remove the vinyl tape before applying compressor oil to a new O-ring and installing the O-ring to the w/receiver condenser assembly using a bolt torqued to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). The technician should start by securing the hood lock support sub assembly with 2 bolts using 5.0 Nm torque (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) and then installing the clip before putting on the hood lock assembly with 3 bolts. The technician will finish the procedure by reinstalling the high pitched and low pitched horn assemblies. Install the hood sub assembly while using Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 (07117-58060, 07117-58070, 07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080) to introduce 460 plus or minus 30 g (16.2 plus or minus 1.1 oz.) of refrigerant and heat the engine to check for leakage.
