2005 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injector assembly on 2005 Scion tC?
A: The first step for fuel injector assembly replacement requires eliminating fuel system pressure while also disconnecting the battery negative terminal before proceeding. The engine cover sub-assembly No.1 should be removed along with the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly through a process that starts by detaching the fuel tube from the fuel hose clamp then removing fuel pipe clamp No. 2 and using Special Service Tool: 09268-21010 to disconnect the fuel tube from the fuel delivery pipe. The fuel tube connector retainer should be unlocked before placing the disconnected components in a vinyl bag. Ventilation hose No. 2 should disconnect along with removing both clamp connectors from the wire harnesses and detaching four fuel injector connectors. Treat injector care while you remove the delivery pipe bolts along with the four injector-equipped pipe. After completing this step remove the pair of delivery pipe Number 1 spacers with all four insulators from the cylinder head surface. New O-rings need a light coat of gasoline or spindle oil for lubrication before placing them on the fuel delivery pipe contact points. Install the injectors while checking that the O-rings remain unharmed and unstuck. Affix four new insulators and the two delivery pipe No. 1 spacers onto the cylinder head, then insert the fuel delivery pipe with its four injectors and temporarily fasten the two bolts to a torque of 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) while checking that the units rotate without hindrance. Connect the four fuel injector connectors while using the two wire harness clamps and reinstall ventilation hose No. 2 in a way that keeps the paint mark properly visible with the hose clamp in its correct position. Insert the connector into the pipe until it makes a click to join the fuel tube with the fuel delivery pipe while checking for damage or foreign objects. After installing the fuel pipe clamp No. 2 and the fuel tube into the fuel hose clamp you can reinstall the air cleaner cap sub-assembly while connecting the battery negative terminal with 5.4 N.m torque (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). Finally inspect for any fuel leakage before installing the engine cover sub-assembly No.1.
