2006 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the fuel injector on 2006 Scion tC?
A: Service of the fuel injector requires you to begin by removing rear seat cushion, rear floor service hole cover, disconnecting the fuel pump connector and enabling engine idle until it stops while switching off ignition and unscrewing the fuel cap until tank pressure releases. After fuel pump connector reconnection the service hole cover goes back on with the rear floor followed by the return of the rear seat cushion. The next process involves disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal before removing both the engine cover and air cleaner cap sub-assemblies. Mount the Special Service Tool: 09268-21010 to detach the fuel tube from its connector interface without applying bending stress on all parts. Wipe away any dust from the fuel tube connector and then unfasten the fuel main tube by detaching the fuel pipe clamp and hose connection. The tube residue requires draining before you secure its detached parts under plastic. Start by disconnecting the No. 2 ventilation hose from the ventilation valve followed by removing the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly through disconnecting the 4 fuel injector connectors and carefully pulling the delivery pipe with the 4 fuel injectors out while keeping them from falling. To access the fuel delivery pipe spacers and insulators of the cylinder head you must first remove them both and pull out the 4 fuel injectors that are located within the delivery pipe. A thin layer of gasoline or spindle oil should be applied to new O-rings before installation on each fuel injector while applying more to the O-ring contact area of the fuel delivery pipe. Place the fuel injectors onto the delivery pipe at the correct positions and check that the O-rings are not damaged or mounted improperly while maintaining the ability of the injectors to rotate smoothly. Place 4 new insulators and 2 delivery pipe spacers into the cylinder head before installing the fuel delivery pipe with injectors while tightening the bolts to 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm or 15 ft.lbf) but allow the injectors to move without resistance. Connect all 4 fuel injector connectors to their respective places while reattaching the 2 wire harness clamps. Connect the No. 2 ventilation hose with correct alignment of the paint mark and hose clamp before connecting the fuel main tube until it clicks and securing the fuel pipe clamp. The battery cable connects to the negative terminal while you reinstall sub-assemblies of the air cleaner cap and engine cover and check for fuel leaks before following system initialization procedures.
