2004 Toyota Highlander Air Bag Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to replace the Side Air Bag Sensor Assy LH on 2004 Toyota Highlander?
A: The Side Air Bag Sensor Assy LH replacement process starts by removing power from the negative terminal then unbolt the scuff plates on both front and rear doors together with the Weather Strips and center pillar garnish lower and front seat outer belt assy LH. Begin by removing the side Air Bag sensor assy LH connector and then remove its fastening bolts which number three. The installation of the new side Air Bag sensor assy LH must start with an off ignition switch and battery negative terminal that stays disconnected for at least 90 seconds before handling the new part. Fasten the sensor in place using the three bolts while tightening them to 17.5 Nm (179 kgf.cm or 13 ft.lbf). The replacement of the side Air Bag sensor assy LH becomes necessary when it shows signs of damage or if the device was dropped. The SRS wiring system needs to be installed in a manner that prevents contact with and pinching by other parts. After securing the sensor you must check the installation for any possible looseness before reattaching the connector. To complete the installation reconnect the battery negative terminal then verify the SRS warning light operation.
