2003 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the Air Bag Sensor on 2003 Toyota Highlander?
A: You need to disconnect the battery negative terminal as your first safety step while serving or repairing the Air Bag Control Module. Start by removing the instrument cluster finish panel assembly center before taking off both right and left floor carpet covers and then the instrument panel finish panel lower center. Reach the air bag sensor assembly center by beginning to unmount the clamp and disconnect its three connectors and break away air duct rear No.1 and air duct rear No.2. Disassemble the air bag sensor assembly center through removal of its three securing bolts. Inspection of the air bag sensor assembly center takes place after removal. Begin the installation when both the ignition switch is turned off and the battery negative terminal remains disconnected for at least 90 seconds. Secure the air bag sensor assembly center using temporary three bolts and tighten them to 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf). Install the connector to the air bag sensor assembly center while checking for proper set-up of water-proof sheet and no undesirable movement of parts. End the procedure by checking the warning light of SRS.
