Q: How to replace the Front Control Arm Sub-Assembly Lower No. 1 LH on 2004 Toyota Camry?
A: The replacement of the Front Suspension Arm Sub-Assembly Lower No. 1 LH requires removing the engine assembly with transaxle as the first step. You must detach the A/T transaxle transverse engine mounting insulator by removing the 3 nuts from their position. The transverse engine mounting insulator for M/T transaxle requires 3 nut removal combined with disassembly of the 4 bolts which fasten the bracket to manual transmission. Detach the front suspension arm sub-assy lower No. 1 LH by first removing front-side bolts and then the bolt and nut at the rear side before separating the assembly along with the front lower arm bush stopper. Installation of the new front suspension arm sub-assy lower No. 1 LH begins with attaching the front lower arm bush stopper followed by securing the assembly by tightening the front side bolts to 200 Nm (2,039 kgf-cm, 148 ft. lbs.) and then using the bolt and nut on the rear side to a torque of 206 Nm (2,101 kgf-cm, 152 ft. lbs.). The A/T transaxle installation requires fitting the transverse engine mounting insulator to its 3 nuts which should be torqued to 87 Nm (887 kgf-cm, 64 ft. lbs.) while the M/T transaxle bracket must be bolted to the manual transmission using 4 bolts torqued to 64 Nm (653 kgf-cm, 47 ft. lbs.) and afterward the insulator gets installed with 3 nuts torqued to 87 Nm (887 kgf-cm, 64 ft. lbs.). Reinstall the engine assembly with transaxle as the last step.
