2004 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Yaw Sensor on 2004 Toyota 4Runner?
A: First remove the Console Upper Rear Panel Sub-Assembly and then proceed to remove the Console Panel Sub-Assembly Upper before removing both Console Upper Panel Garnish No.1 and Console Upper Panel Garnish No.2. You must remove both the Console Box Assembly Rear and the Yaw Rate Sensor through disconnecting their connectors before removing the 2 attaching bolts. The new Yaw Rate Sensor installation requires screwing the 2 bolts with a 13.3 Nm torque (136 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) before reconnecting the yaw rate sensor connector. The installation process requires to first install the Console Box Assembly Rear then add the Console Upper Panel Garnish No.2 followed by Console Upper Panel Garnish No.1 and Console Panel Sub-Assembly Upper before placing the Console Upper Rear Panel Sub-Assembly. The technician must execute the Yaw Rate Sensor zero point calibration followed by VSC sensor signal verification.
