2004 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor Rear LH on 2004 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Begin the Air Bag Sensor Rear LH replacement by taking safety precautions then removing the negative battery terminal. The service process requires removal of the Tonneau Cover Retractor Sub-Assembly and Deck Board Assy along with Rear Floor Mat Support Plate Rear, Deck Floor Box LH, Rear Door Scuff Plate LH, Rear Door Opening Trim Weather Strip LH, Lap Belt Outer Anchor Cover Rear No.1 Seat, Deck Trim Side Board Upr LH and Panel Assy, Deck Trim Side, LH. Start by disconnecting the sensor connector from the Air Bag Sensor Rear LH while removing its two attaching nuts to extract the device. To install the Air Bag Sensor Rear LH position the new sensor before fastening it using the 2 nuts which should reach a torque of 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). Follow this step by reconnecting the sensor along with its related hardware which needs to be properly installed before performing the connector connection. Replace the sensor assembly with a new unit in case the assembly has experienced drops or sustained any observable damage. The SRS wiring needs to be checked for clearance from other components and proper installation should avoid cable pinching. Perform post-installation checks by shaking the sensor assembly and inspect the Rear LH Air Bag Sensor together with the SRS warning light condition.
