2004 Scion xB Sway Bar Kit Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the front Sway Bar Kit on 2004 Scion xB?
A: The process to replace the front sway bar kit begins with front tire removal and hood sub-assembly removal from which engine suspension takes place. Initial Next Step involves disassembly of front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 LH using Special Service Tool: 09628-00011 for the subsequent separation of front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 RH where the procedure matches the LH process. The procedure starts with front sway bar kit separation followed by power steering link assembly and pressure feed tube assembly and front suspension crossmember sub-assembly until the sway bar kit can be removed by detaching the 4 bolts and 2 bushings from the front sway bar bracket No.1 LH and RH. Installation requires placing the sway bar kit with its bushings and brackets then fastening it with 4 bolts and torquing to 37 Nm (377 kgf-cm, 27 ft. lbs.). Ensure the bushings have the slit positioned toward the rear side of the vehicle and outside each paint line. Proceed with connecting the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly together with the pressure feed tube assembly and power steering link assembly and front sway bar kit. Completion follows by attaching the front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 LH and RH which remains identical for both sides. Finish the installation by tightening front wheels to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.), reset the front sub-assembly afterward you will inspect and adjust the hood then evaluate and adjust front wheel alignment.
