2004 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Speed Sensor Front LH on 2004 Scion xB?
A: The first step to replace the Speed Sensor Front LH requires users to remove both the front wheel and the battery. The speed sensor connector needs to be disconnected first followed by removal of two clamp bolts which secure the speed sensor wire harness to both body and shock absorber. The replacement process for the speed sensor front LH begins with disconnecting the resin clip and speed sensor wire harness from the shock absorber. After removing this bolt, take out the speed sensor front LH while ensuring the sensor tip remains free of foreign contaminants. During sensor front LH installation, fix the speed sensor with the torqued bolt at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) and maintain the sensor tip free from foreign substances. Reinstall the speed sensor wire harness by screwing in Bolt A to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) and Bolt B to 29 Nm (300 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.) while avoiding any twisting motion on the wire. Reinstall the speed sensor wire harness with the shock absorber through the resin clip before connecting its sensor connector. To complete the repair workers should install the front wheel by torquing it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) while putting back battery power after testing the ABS speed sensor signal.
