2003 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the rear speed sensor on 2003 Toyota Tacoma?
A: Begin service of rear speed sensors on RZN191L-TRPDKAB, RZN196L-CRPDKAB and RZN196L-PRPDKAB along with VZN195L-CRPDKAB and VZN195L-PRPDKAB by disconnecting the connector then extracting the sensor wire harness with its grommet. First disconnect the speed sensor connector followed by sensor wire harness extraction with grommet and subsequent removal of the 5 resin clips and 2 clamp set bolts and 2 nuts from the sensor wire harness attachment to the side rail, fuel tank and axle housing while applying a torque setting of 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Following that use 8.0 Nm of torque to remove the speed sensor and its 2 mounting bolts. Verify that no foreign objects exist on the sensor and axle end before mounting and ensure the sensor stays flat against the axle end during bolt tightening. New resin mounting clips must be used for installation procedures. The speed sensor signal needs to be checked following successful installation.
