2003 Toyota Sequoia ABS Control Module Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the ABS Control Module for Antilock Brakes on 2003 Toyota Sequoia?
A: Opening the Hydraulic Control Assembly for Antilock Brakes requires the practitioner to pull the release bar from the connector. Special Service Tools 09023-00100 and 09023-38200 should be used to detach the six brake lines from the actuator assembly while maintaining a torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) for the 10 mm nut and 19.5 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.) for the 12 mm nut. Use tags or create a memo to record brake line connection points because it will help during reinstallation. The actuator assembly removal process begins by unfastening the three nuts which should be torqued to 11 Nm (112 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.). The actuator bracket removal procedure starts by removing its three bolts with a torque of 9.5 Nm (97 kgf-cm, 84 inch lbs.) followed by taking out the three cushions from the bracket. With an E5 torx wrench you should remove three screws that attach the skid control ECU while tightening them to 1.8 Nm torque (18 kgf-cm, 16 inch lbs.). The actuator requires protection against dirt contamination which can be achieved by using plastic tools or soft objects to clean it without chemical solvents. The reverse steps of disassembly should guide reassembly steps while brake system bleeding and leak checking must be done during installation which requires filling the brake reservoir with brake fluid. During a replacement of the skid control ECU the technicians must calibrate steering angle and master cylinder pressure and yaw rate and deceleration sensors using zero point calibration procedures.
