2003 Toyota Echo Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the front Air Bag sensor on both the LH and RH sides on 2003 Toyota Echo?
A: Start by taking out the bolt and air cleaner inlet on the LH side followed by disconnecting the connector under the condition of keeping the sensor assembly installed for the process. Secure the front Air Bag sensor LH by removing its 2 securing bolts. First disconnect the connector for the RH side when the sensor assembly remains in place after which remove the two bolts and front Air Bag sensor RH. Connect the connector after installing the sensor assembly in the specified step. Make sure the sensor achieves the required torque value of 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). A sensor replacement becomes necessary if you detect any signs of dropping or observe cracks or dents or defects on it. The connection check function on the front sensor requires locking the electrical procedure through the connector to prevent malfunction codes. Always install the sensor by aligning the arrow in the front direction of the vehicle. After installing the front Air Bag sensor LH with its 2 bolts the technician should establish connector linkage while reattaching the air cleaner inlet using the bolt. Use two bolts to fix the front Air Bag sensor RH before connecting the connector on its side.
