Q: How to remove and install the front Air Bag sensor on Toyota Echo?
A:
The first step for front Air Bag sensor removal includes unbolting the LH side air cleaner and its inlet before disconnecting the connector that needs the sensor assembly in place. The procedure requires the removal of the two front Air Bag sensor LH supporting bolts. Detach the connector on the RH side while following the same procedure and remove both bolts and the front Air Bag sensor RH. Connect the connector to the sensor assembly after its installation completes yet before tightening the sensor with a prescribed torque value of 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). Installation of a new sensor must be performed when the device was dropped or presents visible damage to its components. When connecting the front sensor one should secure its electric check lock because it prevents potential malfunction code detection. During installation always position the sensor arrow toward the vehicle front. The front Air Bag sensor installation on the LH side requires use of two bolts and a connector attachment before reinstalling the air cleaner inlet with its bolt. To install the front Air Bag sensor on the RH side you need to use both bolts for attachment and connect the connector.
Q: How to service and repair the Air Bag Sensor on the sedan on Toyota Echo?
A:
The first step in servicing and repairing the impact sensor of the sedan starts with disconnecting the connectors through a sliding motion in the direction marked by arrows after holding both outer sides simultaneously while the connectors unlock. Handle the connectors at the flank positions because grasping the top and bottom areas will prevent disconnection. Keep sensor connectors in the same direction shown on the illustration then link male ends with female ends without causing friction. After correct positioning the outer will automatically move backward; push it slowly until the outer reaches its normal position. The connectors will separate when the fitting process stops at any point before locking. The connectors need to be pushed all the way into their required position before locking completely. Following installation perform a gentle pull check to verify the lock is secure. A locking sound will emerge while you fit the parts and the outer component should return to its natural position after locking. Holding the outer bag during fitting should be avoided since the item will naturally shift during that time.
