2003 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Front Wheel Speed Sensor (SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH) on 2003 Toyota Corolla?
A: One should start the SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH installation by removing both front wheels together with the front fender liner on the left-hand side. First disconnect the speed sensor wire harness clamp from both the body and speed sensor connectors before removing two clamp bolts which secure the sensor harness to body and shock absorber followed by the bolt and speed sensor front LH. Maintain the sensor tip cleanliness at all times during the operation. The new speed sensor front LH must be installed with the bolt while applying torque at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) before cleaning the sensor tip. Begin sensor harness clamp installation by torquing Bolt A to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) while torquing Bolt B to 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft. lbs.). Connect the speed sensor connector along with the speed sensor wire harness clamp to the body's structure. Attach the front wheel to the vehicle while torquing it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) before placing back the front fender liner LH. Examine the ABS speed sensor signal as the final step.
