2003 Toyota Camry Suspension Strut Rod Parts Q&A
Q: How to replace the Suspension Strut Rod Assy Rear on 2003 Toyota Camry?
A: The replacement of the Strut Rod Assy Rear begins by taking off the rear vehicle wheel. The first step requires disconnecting the parking brake cable by loosening its bolt and nut followed by removing the strut rod bolt and nut from the front side while maintaining the nut fixed. The next step involves separating the strut rod from the rear axle carrier yet maintaining a fixed position to the nut as the bolt gets loose and removed. The strut rod achieves temporary fixation at the rear section after installing both the bolt and nut with the bolt inserted from inside the vehicle while maintaining the nut in position during tightening. Use the bolt to connect the strut rod on the inner side and torque it to 113 Nm while maintaining the nut in place. Stabilize the suspension through rear axle carrier jack-up with a wood block while adding force until the installed bolt of the suspension arm assembly No. 1 aligns with the center of the rear axle hub. You need to tighten the nut of the strut rod first then fix it while increasing the torque value to 113 Nm (1,152 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.). After that, install the parking brake cable with the bolt and nut then torque them to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). After installing the rear wheel complete the procedure by applying torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) while performing a check of the rear wheel alignment.
