2003 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on 2003 Toyota Avalon?
A: The replacement of this sensor begins by opening the V-bank cover with a 5 mm hexagon wrench to undo the cap nuts and loosening the fastener in a counterclockwise direction until the cover can be removed. Proceed to remove the air cleaner hose together with its resonator. Start by removing the two camshaft position sensor connectors before unbolting the 2 camshaft position sensors from their positions while collecting the O-rings off the sensors. To complete the installation you should place fresh O-rings onto the new camshaft position sensors before tightening them with bolts to a torque specification of 8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.lbf). Proceed by attaching the 2 camshaft position sensor connectors and reinstalling the air cleaner hose with resonator before installing the V-bank cover by using the 5 mm hexagon wrench to fasten it with 3 cap nuts while pressing down the fastener.
