2003 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ignition coil on 2003 Toyota Avalon?
A: The starting point for ignition coil replacement is the 5 mm hexagon wrench to remove three cap nuts while loosing the V-bank cover fastener counterclockwise for cover removal. The procedure starts by disconnecting ignition coil connectors on 6 locations then removing a bolt to free all 6 ignition coils from the cylinder head. New ignition coil installation requires connecting it through the spark plug to the cylinder head facing before torquing the bolt to 8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.lbf) and finally attaching the 6 ignition coil connectors. Reassemble the V-bank cover using a 5 mm hexagon wrench along with the provided 3 cap nuts while pressing down the V-bank cover fastener.
