2002 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on 2002 Toyota Avalon?
A: You must start to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor by using a 5 mm hexagon wrench to remove the 3 cap nuts and counterclockwise turning the V-bank cover fastener before removing the cover. The next steps involve unhooking the air cleaner hose with resonator followed by removing the 2 camshaft position sensor connectors and bolts and sensors while extracting the O-rings from the sensors. New O-rings need installation on each new camshaft position sensor before securing them with bolts at 8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.lbf) torque and then replace the 2 camshaft position sensor connectors. Install the air cleaner hose with resonator under the V-bank cover by fastening the 3 cap nuts using a 5 mm hexagon wrench and pressing down the fastener on the V-bank cover.
