2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the front Air Bag sensors on 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder?
A: Start the procedure of front Air Bag sensor replacement and installation by removing the luggage compartment trim box cover and the tool box assembly. The front Air Bag sensor LH should have its connector removed while the sensor assembly stays in place followed by the removal of two attaching bolts for its removal. The right-hand side front Air Bag sensor requires the connector to be disconnected then the removal of 2 bolts that secure the front Air Bag sensor RH. Secure the front Air Bag sensors LH and RH using 4 bolts that require a torque of 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) before connecting the front Air Bag sensor connectors on sensor assemblies after proper installation. Sensor inspection should be done to ensure they remain undamaged. Any drop damage or signs of defect require new sensor replacement. The electrical connection check mechanism has to be locked securely before connecting the connector to prevent malfunction codes. The front Air Bag sensor must go in place with the arrow pointing toward vehicle frontage before putting back the tool box assembly and the luggage compartment trim box cover.
