2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder Air Bag Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove and install the Air Bag Sensor Assembly on 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder?
A: Starting with floor carpet installation removal it then becomes necessary to detach wire clamp connections together with Air Bag sensor connectors while keeping the Air Bag sensor assembly mounted in place. You need to remove 3 screws holding the Air Bag sensor assembly in place by using a torx wrench which matches T40 specifications (Part No.09042-00020 or local tool equivalent). When installing SRS parts never use anything except new replacement components because you must discard sensor assemblies that deployed from vehicle collisions. The torx wrench should be used to install the Air Bag sensor assembly with 3 screws which require a torque value of 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). Reinstall the floor carpet while connecting the Air Bag sensor connectors and the wire clamp. Check if the sensor assembly maintains the required torque and inspect for damage to the component and verify that SRS wiring does not become pinched between any part. Conclude the sensor installation process by performing a loose parts check through sensor assembly vibration.
