2002 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2002 Toyota Corolla?
A: You must first detach the clutch line with Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 while collecting fluid in a container. Unscrew the two bolts to pull out the release cylinder from its position. Start by removing the bleeder plug after you take out the union bolt and two gaskets together with the union. Extract the push rod boot from its center and employ compressed air to eject the piston with spring from the cylinder assembly. Reassembly requires you to apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the piston and place it with the spring into the cylinder before installing the boot with the push rod. The next step entails connecting the union followed by installing two gaskets and the union bolt until the torque reaches 24.5 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.). Afterward, tighten the bleeder plug to 8.4 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 74 inch lbs.). Installation begins by fastening the release cylinder through two bolts which must be torqued to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) before attaching the clutch line using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 while torqueing to 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) with a torque wrench set to 300 mm (11.81 inch) fulcrum length. Complete this process by filling the clutch reservoir with brake fluid followed by clutch system bleeding then check for any leaks.
