2001 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2001 Toyota Corolla?
A: Serving and repairing the Clutch Slave Cylinder requires first using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to disconnect the clutch line followed by fluid catching in a container. You should start by taking out the two bolts and pulling away the release cylinder. First remove the bleeder plug before taking off the union bolt plus two gaskets and the union from the assembly process. You must extract the piston and spring through compressed air from the cylinder after pulling the boot-equipped push rod. Apply lithium soap base glycol grease coating to the piston before inserting it with the spring into the cylinder and installing the boot including push rod. Reassemble the system by first mounting the union and then sequentially placing two gaskets and the union bolt before tightening it to 24.5 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.). Tighten the bleeder plug to a torque value of 8.4 Nm while using 85 kgf-cm around the inch lbs scale. To install the release cylinder, secure the unit with two bolts that should be tightened to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) before using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to torques the clutch line to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). Continuing with brake fluid route inside the reservoir leads to clutch system bleeding and subsequent leak testing.
