2000 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2000 Toyota Corolla?
A: The service and repair process for Clutch Slave Cylinder begins with disconnecting the clutch line by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 which allows capturing fluid into a container. The two bolts need removal followed by pulling out the release cylinder. First disconnect the bleeder plug and proceed to remove the union bolt together with its accompanying two gaskets and union. First use compressed air to extract the piston and spring from the cylinder and then remove the piston along with spring assembly by separating the boot with pushing rod. Installing lithium soap base glycol grease on the piston is the first step of reassembly before placing the piston with its spring in the cylinder. Finally, install the boot along with the push rod. Begin by installing the union after which you should add two gaskets and the union bolt while applying a torque of 24.5 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.). Move forward with installation of the bleeder plug at 8.4 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 74 inch lbs.). The installation requires fixing the release cylinder via its two bolts at 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) before performing the clutch line connection with Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 at 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). The procedure ends by adding brake fluid to the clutch reservoir while performing a clutch system bleed before inspecting for any fluid leakage.
