2002 Toyota Celica Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Radiator Cooling Fan Motor on 2002 Toyota Celica?
A: Service and repair of the Radiator Cooling Fan Motor requires first draining the engine coolant and then removing the upper front fender apron seal together with the upper radiator support seal. The repair process starts by drainage of engine coolant then moving to remove bumper cover and radiator upper support through the steps of taking out air cleaner assembly followed by engine coolant reservoir and three bolts for hood lock, two bolts combined with center brace and two more bolts alongside two nuts and two condenser upper supports except the cruise control bolt for systems enabled with cruise control before continuing to unscrew two radiator upper support bolts. The cooling fan removal process begins by disconnecting the two cooling fan connectors followed by the bolting removal. Disassembly requires removal of the fan by unscrewing its holding nut along with disconnecting the fan shroud wire and connector then removing the three screws for fan motor extraction. Attach the fan shroud wire and connector holder after installing the fan motor with its three screws tightened to 2.55 Nm (26 kgf-cm, 23 inch lbs.). After installation of the fan use the nut to tighten it at 6.18 Nm (63 kgf-cm, 55 inch lbs.). To install the cooling fan connect it with two bolts using 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.) torque and link the two cooling fan connectors. When installing the radiator upper support the two bolts must be used while additional installation requires the cruise control actuator with three bolts followed by the two condenser upper supports with two bolts and nuts together with the two bolt center brace and three bolt hood lock and engine coolant reservoir and air cleaner assembly. Finish the procedure by reinstalling the front bumper followed by engine coolant filling and engine start-up and investigation of coolant leakage.
