2003 Toyota Celica Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Radiator Cooling Fan Motor on 2003 Toyota Celica?
A: The repair and servicing operation for the Radiator Cooling Fan Motor requires users to begin with removing the upper front fender apron seal and upper radiator support seal before draining the engine coolant. Begin by removing the bumper cover and radiator upper support through the steps of taking out the air cleaner assembly and engine coolant reservoir in combination with three hood lock disconnecting bolts, two bolts with a center brace, two bolts, two nuts and two condenser upper supports, and disabling the cruise control system if present. The last action requires removal of both radiator upper support bolts. The cooling fan requires removal after disconnecting its two connectors followed by unfastening the two bolts. First remove the fan while separating the nut before removing the wire and connector holder from the fan shroud which allows you to remove the three screws to extract the fan motor. The installation procedure starts with inserting the fan motor using three screws at 2.55 Nm (26 kgf-cm, 23 inch lbs.) torque then connect the wire and the connector holder to the fan shroud. Secure the fan through its nut until it reaches 6.18 Nm (63 kgf-cm, 55 inch lbs.) torque. sert the cooling fan first by securing its two bolts at 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.) and finish reattaching the two cooling fan connectors. Besides the two bolts, the radiator upper support installation requires additional installation of a cruise control actuator using three bolts when cruise control is present. Use two bolts and nuts to install the condenser upper supports followed by the installation of the center brace using two bolts while the hood lock requires three bolts then you should mount the engine coolant reservoir and air cleaner assembly. Installation of the front bumper completes this procedure before filling the coolant system and starting the engine to verify for any leaking coolant.
