Q: What are the steps involved in installing the power Rack And Pinion assembly on 2002 Toyota Camry?
A: Before installation apply power steering fluid or lithium base molybdenum disulfide grease on the marked parts. Begin by taking off the electrical connection at the widget after that remove both the horn button assembly and steering wheel assembly with tool number 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09950-05021). Remove the front wheel and spiral cable unit first. Then detach the left and right tie rod assemblies using Special Service Tool: 09628-62011. Unscrew the bolt and take off the clamp from the steering column hole cover No. 1 while separating the steering column hole cover No. 2. Mark matching points between the steering intermediate shaft sub-assembly and rack and pinion assembly before you detach them. Unfasten the front stabilizer link assemblies on both sides and remove the front stabilizer brackets. Then disconnect the pressure feed tube assembly and return tube assembly with Special Service Tool: 09021-12700. Separate the rack and pinion power steering rack and pinion along with its heat insulator (for 1MZ-FE engines) and both right and left turn pressure tubes with Special Service Tool 09023-38200. Using Special Service Tool 09612-00012 secure the rack and pinion assembly while you also remove both tie rod assemblies for proper torque measurements. Take apart the steering rack boot clips and clamps handily to prevent damage before removing the steering rack boots. Separate the claw washer and take out the rack ends with claw washers using Special Service Tool: 09922-10010 before using the same tool to extract the rack guide and power steering control valve with a socket wrench (27 mm). Disassemble the control valve rings and oil seal with Special Service Tool: 09950-70010 (09951-07150), 09950-60010 (09951-00250) by pressing them apart. You must install both new steering piston ring and oil seal into the new power steering cylinder while placing them right-side out.
