2002 Toyota 4Runner Ignition Coil Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the ignition coil on 2002 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Service of ignition coils requires separating the air cleaner hose and removing connections from the high-tension cords attached to the coils. The service begins with removing the 3 ignition coils from the LH cylinder head by disconnecting the 3 connectors and removing the 3 bolts from their placements. Ensure to arrange the ignition coils in the proper sequence. Place the three ignition coils onto the LH cylinder head by using three bolts while torquing them to 7.8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 In.lbf). Then connect the three connectors to the ignition coils. The final step involves connecting the high-tension cords to the igniter followed by air cleaner hose reinstallation.
