Ignition Coil

Service of ignition coils requires separating the air cleaner hose and removing connections from the high-tension cords attached to the coils. The service begins with removing the 3 ignition coils from the LH cylinder head by disconnecting the 3 connectors and removing the 3 bolts from their placements. Ensure to arrange the ignition coils in the proper sequence. Place the three ignition coils onto the LH cylinder head by using three bolts while torquing them to 7.8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 In.lbf). Then connect the three connectors to the ignition coils. The final step involves connecting the high-tension cords to the igniter followed by air cleaner hose reinstallation.

The service of ignition coils begins with removing the air cleaner hose while disconnecting high-tension cords from the ignition coils. Begin by disconnecting the 3 connectors from the ignition coils and removing the 3 bolts along with 3 ignition coils from the RH cylinder head cover while maintaining the correct order of the ignition coils. Reinstall the three ignition coils onto the RH cylinder head cover before attaching the 3 bolts while performing a torque of 8 Nm (80 kg.cm, 70 in.lb). Then connect the 3 connectors to the ignition coils. After that you should connect high-tension cords to ignition coils followed by reinstallation of the air cleaner hose.

Following cleanup of the air cleaner hose the mechanic will disconnect the high-tension cords attached to the ignition coils. You need to remove the bolt first while detaching the connector from the ignition coil to extract the ignition coil off the LH cylinder head. Install a new ignition coil on the spark plug while attaching it to the cylinder head cover through the bolt until reaching 7.8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.lbf) torque. You need to replace the air cleaner hose after you reconnect the high-tension cords to the ignition coils.

The replacement process starts with air cleaner hose removal followed by high-tension cord unattachment from ignition coils. First disconnect the connector from the ignition coil before removing its bolt to extract the ignition coil from the LH cylinder head. Position the new ignition coil onto the spark plug before mounting it to the cylinder head cover so that you can fasten it using the provided bolt tightened to 7.8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.lbf). Attach the high-tension cords next to the ignition coils before reinstating the air cleaner hose.

Connect the high-tension cords to the igniter and reinstall the air cleaner hose.

Remove the air cleaner hose.

Reconnect the 3 connectors to the ignition coils.

Install the ignition coils (with igniter) back onto the spark plugs using the bolt.

Place the 3 ignition coils back onto the RH cylinder head cover using the 3 bolts, tightening them to a torque of 8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 70 in.lbf).
