2001 Toyota Tundra Clutch Slave Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2001 Toyota Tundra?
A: Begin Clutch Slave Cylinder service by removing the filler cap and float followed by fluid removal through a syringe and wiping off all traces of fluid from painted surfaces. The disconnect process of the clutch line from the release cylinder requires Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 while you catch the escaping fluid in a container. Tear out the two bolts while extracting the release cylinder. During disassembly the user should first remove the boot and push rod by pulling the boot off the push rod then extracting the boot away from the rod. When removing the piston and spring from the cylinder use compressed air yet keep the piston secured with a waste cloth to stop it from leaping out and to prevent brake fluid from splashing. Next, remove the bleeder plug. You should mount the bleeder plug with 11 Nm (110 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.) torque and apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the piston before placing the spring and piston inside the cylinder. Begin by putting the push rod onto the boot then install the cylinder boot along with its attached push rod. The installation requires two bolts that must be tightened to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) while connecting the clutch line to the release cylinder using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 with a torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). The process ends by filling brake fluid in the clutch reservoir followed by clutch system bleeding and leak checking procedures.
