2002 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2002 Toyota Tundra?
A: Service and repair of Clutch Slave Cylinder requires full removal of filler cap, float and brake fluid draw with syringe while keeping away from painted surfaces. The Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 should be used to disconnect the clutch line from the release cylinder while collecting fluid into a suitable container. You must pull out the release cylinder after removing its two bolts. Disassembly requires first pulling out the boot with push rod and then taking the boot from the push rod. Apply compressed air through the cylinder to pull out the piston and spring while handling the piston carefully with a cloth so it does not jump out and brake fluid avoids spreading. Next, remove the bleeder plug. When reinstalling the bleeder plug utilize a torque of 11 Nm along with applying lithium soap base glycol grease to the piston followed by placing piston and spring back into the cylinder. You must first connect the push rod to the boot followed by proper installation of the boot with push rod into the cylinder. Two bolts must be used to secure the release cylinder at a torque of 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) while connecting the clutch line to the release cylinder with Special Service Tool 09023-00100 through a torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). The final task will consist of adding brake fluid to the clutch reservoir and performing a clutch system bleed while inspecting it for any leakage until complete.
