2001 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2001 Toyota Tundra?
A: Service and repair of Clutch Master Cylinder starts by removing the filler cap alongside the float from the reservoir before using a syringe to extract brake fluid while making sure paint surfaces stay fluid-free. Detach the clutch line from the master cylinder by using Special Service Tool 09023-00100 and save any escaping fluid in a receptacle. Use needle-nose pliers to remove first the clip and clevis pin. Then take off the clevis pin and wave washer. Following removal of the two mounting nuts you should pull out the master cylinder before taking out the gasket. To dissemble the reservoir tank uses pin punch and hammer strikes against the slotted spring pin until removal where the tank and grommet can be extracted. You can start by loosening the lock nut which enables removal of clevis and boot. Afterwards push the push rod and use snap ring pliers to take out the snap ring followed by removing the push rod and washer. Remove the piston with spring. Reassemble the system by coating all parts with lithium soap base glycol grease followed by inserting the piston containing spring into the cylinder and installing the push rod with boot. Washers need placement on the push rod before using snap ring pliers to secure the snap ring. First install the lock nut and clevis followed by the reservoir with new grommet installation using the slotted spring pin for driving. Install the master cylinder using two mounting nuts, apply torque to 14 Nm before attaching the clutch line using tool 09023-00100 and torquing it to 15 Nm. The final steps include installing a clevis pin together with a wave washer and clip while filling the clutch reservoir with brake fluid followed by bleeding the clutch system then setting the clutch pedal height before leak detection.
