2000 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2000 Toyota Tundra?
A: The Clutch Master Cylinder servicing process starts with removing the filler cap together with the float from the reservoir before using the syringe to withdraw brake fluid while avoiding fluid contact with painted surfaces. The master cylinder tube requires disconnection from the clutch utilizing the Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 while containing all fluid in a receptacle. Start the process by eliminating the clip and clevis pin with needle-nose pliers before proceeding to the clevis pin and wave washer. Start the process by unfastening the two master cylinder mounting nuts before extracting the assembly and eliminating the gasket. To disassemble the master cylinder start by removing the reservoir tank by punching out its slotted spring pin with a pin punch accompanied by a hammer action. Keeping the tank container in place remove the reservoir and its grommet. Users should loosen the lock nut to extract the clevis and boot and push the push rod while simultaneously using snap ring pliers to detach the snap ring before proceeding with push rod and washer removal. Remove the piston with spring. Lithium soap base glycol grease should coat all parts before installing the piston and spring into the cylinder. The push rod and boot require that the push rod washer is fitted correctly followed by using snap ring pliers to install the snap ring. First place a lock nut alongside the clevis and temporarily attach the parts. Then mount the reservoir along with a new grommet while driving the slotted spring pin into position. The installation process includes using a new gasket and mounting the master cylinder with two nuts at 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) torque before attaching the clutch line to the master cylinder with Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to a torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). To finish the process install the clevis pin and wave washer followed by the clip while bleaching the clutch system then adjusting the clutch pedal and inspecting all fluid levels.
