• Q: How to service and repair fuel injectors on 2001 Toyota RAV4?

  A: The first step to service or repair fuel injectors includes disconnecting the PCV hose then removing the air cleaner assembly with MAF meter by taking off the air cleaner cap and inlet, removing the air filter and disconnecting the MAF meter connector before unscrewing the 3 bolts securing the air cleaner case with MAF meter and bracket. Continuing with replacement and servicing of the fuel injectors requires disconnecting 4 injector connectors then taking out 2 bolts securing the delivery pipe to the cylinder head before separating the delivery pipe with all 4 injectors from the cylinder head while maintaining injector safety. Take away the two spacers and four grommets before extracting the four injectors out of the delivery pipe. Pull off the O-ring from every injector. Work with spindle oil or gasoline to treat fresh O-rings before installing them onto injectors before mounting the cylinder head with 2 spacers and 4 new grommets. Sparely apply spindle oil or gasoline to the delivery pipe O-ring contact points before installing each injector by aligning it clockwise through the delivery pipes. Begin by positioning downward the injector connectors then attach the delivery pipe with 4 injectors to the cylinder head and temporarily install 2 delivery pipe bolts. Perform a smooth operation test for the injectors; replacement of the O-ring is needed if rotation is restricted. Close the injector connectors towards the bottom then proceed to fasten the two mounting bolts to reach specified torque levels of 20 N.m. Connect the complete set of four injector connectors afterwards. To complete this procedure attach the air cleaner assembly by fastening the MAF meter to the air cleaner case using the bracket and three bolts along with reattaching the MAF meter connector and installing the new air filter and returning the air cleaner cap to its original position followed by PCV hose reconnection.
