2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the throttle body for a manual transmission on 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder?
A: Service and repair of the throttle body for manual transmission starts with draining engine coolant. The service begins with suspension upper brace removal followed by disconnecting the VSV for EVAP from its air cleaner hose before removing the air cleaner hose. The first step involves disconnecting the accelerator cable followed by throttle body removal through connector detachment of the throttle position sensor together with the IAC valve and the PCV hose and two water bypass tubes. The intake manifold requires removal of its two bolts and two nuts along with the throttle body while discarding its two gaskets before proceeding to remove two bolts and the accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body. When performing installation place new gaskets on the intake manifold then attach the accelerator cable bracket to the throttle body using two bolts before securing the throttle body using its two nuts and bolts while torquing them to 30 N.m (305 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf). Secure all action sequences by connecting the water bypass hoses along with the IAC valve connector and throttle position sensor connector and the PCV hose to the throttle body. Following protocol requires connecting the accelerator cable and installing the air cleaner hose before the reinstallation of VSV for EVAP and suspension upper brace replacement which must be followed by radiator engine coolant filling.
