2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear speed sensor on 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder?
A: The replacement process requires the user to disconnect the rear speed sensor connector and remove the rear wheel. Start by removing the speed sensor grommet together with the clip. Then remove 2 clamp bolts and the bolt which fastens the speed sensor. Check that the sensor along with the knuckle installation area lacks foreign matter before securing the sensor with the bolt that must remain flat against the knuckle surface. Utilize the bolt to secure the new speed sensor at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) torque before tightening the body side clamp bolts to 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.) while the upper arm side bolts require 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.). Install the grommet together with the clip followed by torquing the rear wheel to 76 ft. lbs. (103 Nm, 1,050 kgf-cm). End the procedure by connecting the speed sensor connector followed by a speed sensor signal verification.
