How to replace the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 on 2001 Toyota Highlander?

The replacement process of the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 starts with removal of the Instrument Panel Finish Panel Sub-Assembly Lower [55045/98-102], Instrument PNL Insert Sub-Assembly LWR LH [55406C/98-102], Front Door Scuff Plate LH [67914/98-115] and Cowl Side Trim Sub-Assembly LH [62112A/98-115] and Front Floor Footrest [58191/98-105]. Release the parking brake pedal after detaching the parking brake cable assembly No. 1 [46410/98-78] from the parking brake pedal assembly by removing the clip followed by removing the nut before disconnecting it from the parking brake equalizer. Thoroughly raise the carpet in the floor to reach and detach the 2 bolts connecting the parking brake cable assembly No. 1 to the body structure. The parking brake cable assembly No. 1 requires two nuts for body attachment during installation with a specified torque of 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.). Connect the assembly to the parking brake pedal assembly by using the clip followed by connecting it to the parking brake equalizer using the lock nut which should be tightened to 12.5 Nm (128 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Recover all parts that include Front Floor Footrest [58191/98-105], Cowl Side Trim Sub-Assembly LH [62112A/98-115], Front Door Scuff Plate LH [67914/98-115] together with Instrument PNL Insert Sub-Assembly LWR LH [55406C/98-102] and Instrument Panel Finish Panel Sub-Assembly Lower [55045/98-102]. Adjust the parking brake pedal travel appropriately.
