- Q: How to replace the drive belt on 2001 Toyota Highlander?A: The process of drive belt replacement starts with removing the front wheel right-hand side then disassembling both the front fender splash shield front RH [53895B] and the front fender apron seal RH [537361]. First remove Engine mounting stay number 2 on the right-hand side: 12327A and then remove the Engine cover sub-assy 1 RBH: 12601B. Uninstall the engine moving control rod with bracket through the removal of its 3 bolts. The operation starts by uninstalling the motor mounting bracket No.2 RH [12316] and the fan and generator V belt [16361A]. Special Service Tool: 09249-63010 enables the drive bolt removal by tightly rotating clockwise the drive belt tensioner. The procedure for installing the new fan and generator V belt [16361A] includes a slow clockwise turn of the drive belt tensioner followed by usage of Special Service Tool: 09249-63010 to install the drive bolt. Secure the engine mounting bracket No.2 RH [12316] with a torque of 52 Nm (531 kgf-cm, 38 ft. lbs.) before using the engine moving control rod with bracket and securing it with the 3 bolts reaching 64 Nm (653 kgf-cm, 47 ft. lbs.). The sequence of installation starts with placing the engine mounting stay No.2 RH [12327A] at 64 Nm (653 kgf-cm, 47 ft. lbs.) torque before reinstating the front wheel RH with 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.).
