2000 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the Speed Sensor NO.1 and NO.2 on 2000 Toyota Tundra?
A: The Vehicle Speed Sensor NO.1 servicing process begins with disconnecting its connector and removing the sensor using bolt retention. First remove the O-ring from the speedometer driven gear assembly then detach both the clip and speedometer driven gear from the speedometer driven gear sleeve during NO. 1 vehicle speed sensor disassembly. The speedometer driven gear and clip should be assembled on the speedometer driven gear sleeve while the new O-ring needs ATF coating before placing it on the speedometer driven gear assembly. Follow by installing the speed sensor bolt and tightening it to 16 Nm (160 kgf-cm, 12 ft. lbs.) before connecting its connector. Vehicle Speed Sensor NO.2 service starts by detaching its connector then removing the NO. 2 sensor with bolt and O-ring removal. Install the new O-ring coated with ATF to the NO. 2 vehicle speed sensor before installing the sensor with its bolt through a process that requires applying 5.4 Nm torque (55 kgf-cm or 48 inch lbs.) to complete the installation and connect the NO. 2 vehicle speed sensor connector.
