Q: How to Service the Sway Bar Kit on 2000 Toyota Tacoma?
A: All servicing operations for the PreRunner sway bar kit (RZN191L-TRPDKAB, RZN196L-CRPDKAB, VZN195L-CRPDKAB) should begin by discarding front wheels and applying 110 Nm torque (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs). To disconnect the sway bar links start by removing the nut then separating the link from the lower suspension arm and tightening the hex bolt to 69 Nm (700 kgf-cm, 51 ft. lbs.). A hexagon wrench should prevent the ball joint stud from rotating when you secure it with the provided wrench. Perform the same process on the sway bar link of the other side. The sway bar kit becomes removable by using 25 Nm torque when you disconnect all bracket set bolts and extract the sway bar kit and its related brackets and cushions. Detach all parts of the sway bar kit by taking off its brackets and cushions. We need to retain the link when removing its nut and retainers along with bushings while applying torque at 29 Nm (300 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.) on each side. Before installing the sway bar link ball joint nut you should move the ball joint stud in reverse five times. The 5th turn torque measurement should produce readings within 0.05-2.0 Nm (0.5-20 kgf-cm, 0.4-17 inch lbs.) when operating a torque wrench to turn the nut at 1-turn intervals spanning 2-4 seconds. The last steps entail reversing the initial removal sequence.
