2000 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser on 2000 Toyota Tacoma?
A: A proper service and repair process for the HVAC condenser requires discharging all refrigerant from the system then evacuating the air while charging it with 600 plus or minus 50 g(21.16 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) of refrigerant followed by leak inspection. Start the HVAC condenser service by uninstalling the radiator grille and horns together with hood lock set bolts and center brace. The receiver requires two-bolt removal to separate its liquid tubes before capping all open fittings to stop moisture and dirt from entering. Torque each bolt to 6.0 Nm (60 kg.cm, 52 in.lb). Follow the order of operations to remove both liquid tubes by torquing them to 14 Nm (140 kg.cm, 10 ft.lb). Next apply caps over the open fittings. Disconnect the condenser discharge hose by taking out the piping clamp set bolt and hose securing bolt while torquing them to 10 Nm (100 kg.cm, 7 ft.lb) and applying an open fitting cap. The condenser removal process begins with liquid tube bolt removal and continues with two condenser bolts removal before simply pulling out the condenser assembly. When substituting a condenser users must fill the new component with 40 - 50 cc (1.4 - 1.7 fl.oz.) of ND-OIL 8 or an equivalent compressor oil. Piping occurs in the opposite sequence of dismantling.
