2000 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Heater Core in a Rear Heating Unit on 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Service or repair operations of the rear heater unit start with radiator coolant removal but full depletion of coolant is not required. You can disconnect the water hoses from heater radiator pipes by using pliers to slip the claws of the clip along the hose path until removing the hoses from the pipes. Install the water hose onto the heater radiator pipe up to the second ridge mark and position the hose clip at the specified point. The procedure requires removal of front seats followed by rear heater control assembly and its adjacent components including rear console box and front console box cover and lower center cluster finish panel and front door scuff plates and cowl side trims and rear door scuff plates along with center pillar garnishes. Pull the floor carpet backward and detach the cooler bracket after removing its four bolts and bracket. First separate the rear heater duct by removing its bolt along with the screw and duct before disconnecting the connector and Harvesting 3 bolts to extract the rear heater unit. The installation follows a procedure which reverses the steps used for removal.
