Before addressing the heater core service, disconnect the negative battery terminal cable and wait for 90 seconds for Air Bag and seat pretensioner safety to deactivate yet initialization steps are needed upon reinstallation with system checks required after cable reconnection. The water hoses attaching to heater radiator pipes need to be separated using plier-gripped clips which are slid along hose lengths before correctly removing hoses into a container that collects engine coolant. After starting to work on the vehicle remove the front seat assembly while also taking off the rear console box and the front console box cover together with the lower center cluster finish panel and the front door scuff plate and cowl side trim and the rear door scuff plate and center pillar lower garnish cover and center pillar garnish. First move the floor carpet to the rear before removing the cooler bracket through bolt removal then disconnect the heater duct by unscrewing its bolt. The last step requires disconnecting the connector before removing 3 bolts to complete the removal of the rear heater unit. Reassembly must be done by following exactly the opposite steps of the disassembly process.

Push the water hose onto the heater radiator pipe as far as the second ridge on the pipe.

First, remove the cover with 3 screws, then remove 4 screws and 3 holding springs to separate the heater cases.

Use pliers to slide the clip and detach the hoses, collecting the engine coolant in a container.

First, remove the cover by unscrewing 3 screws, then take out 4 screws and 3 holding springs to separate the heater cases, followed by removing the nut and fan, and finally unscrewing the screws to detach the blower motor.

Remove the foot duct by taking out the 2 screws, and then disconnect the mode damper control link.

Installation is completed in the reverse order of removal.
