Heater Core

The first step for servicing or repairing the heater core involves draining engine coolant from the radiator but complete removal of coolant is not required. The first step is to disconnect water hoses from the A/C unit followed by removing the No.1 lower instrument panel together with the LH instrument lower panel. The heater radiator removal begins with releasing three claws to pull out the heater protector followed by unscrewing three plate screws and disconnecting the two heater radiator pipes by unfastening their respective screws and clamps before extracting the heater radiator itself. The installation procedure of this component requires reverse sequencing of its removal steps.

Draining the radiator coolant begins the heater core service procedure yet a full coolant depletion is not needed. Subsequent to disconnecting the water hoses from the A/C unit you should take out the No.1 lower instrument panel along with the LH instrument lower panel. Start by releasing the 3 claws from the heater protector then pulling it out and afterward removing the 3 screws on the plate. The removal of the heater radiator begins with unscrewing the 2 clamps on the pipes and removing the screws before extracting the heater radiator. The reverse procedure is used for heater radiator installation.

Engine coolant draining from the radiator starts the heater core service process while keeping some coolant amount in place. The water hoses must be disconnected from the A/C unit followed by lowering the No.1 lower instrument panel and the LH instrument lower panel. The heater radiator installation starts with releasing three claws on the heater protector followed by screwing out three plate screws and disconnecting two heater radiator pipes with their screws and clamps before extracting the heater radiator. The A/C unit needs the heater radiator installed beforehand followed by O-ring placement on heater radiator pipes before their connection to the heater radiator. Reinstall the heater protector after securing the 2 clamps with 2 screws and deploying the 3 plate by installing 3 screws. After the installation of LH instrument lower panel insert the No.1 lower instrument panel before adding the cowl side trim LH and front door scuff plate LH while you should finish with water hose connection to the A/C unit procedures.
