Body Assembly, Throttle W/Throttle Position Sensor

Service or repair of the throttle body requires beginning with draining engine coolant and disconnecting the negative battery cable. Begin service by removing both the V-bank cover sub-assembly and the combination of air cleaner cap along with hose. The service of the throttle motor body starts with hose separation by removing connections between these water bypass lines and the throttle w/ motor body assembly. The throttle w/ motor body assembly removal procedure requires users to disconnect its connector while removing four bolts securing it to the intake air surge tank then debonding the throttle body gasket. Position the new throttle body gasket on top of the intake air surge tank after which you should install the throttle w/ motor body assembly alongside the wire harness clamp stay using four bolts secured with 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) torque setting while reconnecting the throttle w/ motor body assembly connector. Reinstall the air cleaner cap with its hose before connecting cables to the negative terminal and checking for leaks while installing water by-pass hoses to the throttle w/ motor body assembly. Engine coolant refill should also be performed. After installing the V-bank cover sub-assembly check whether the throttle body performs correctly after performing system initialization procedures following battery terminal disconnection.

Implementing the throttle body on the 2AZ-FE engine control requires placing a new gasket on the intake manifold first. The installation of throttle body requires connecting the purge line hose with the water by-pass hose along with No. 2 water by-pass hose and No. 1 throttle body hose to the throttle body. Use 4 bolts to secure the throttle body which need torquing to 30 Nm (305 kgf-cm, 22 ft-lbf). Join the fuel tube to both the clamp and the throttle position sensor connector as well as the wire harness clamp. The installment sequence starts with placing the air cleaner case sub-assembly before adding the air cleaner cap sub-assembly while making sure the air cleaner filter element is correctly positioned and the hinges exist in their slots. Insert and secure the two bolts to connect the air cleaner cap sub-assembly while matching both throttle body marks with the No. 1 air cleaner hose which requires correct positioning of the hose clamp. Secure all components of air cleaner hose installation by connecting No. 2 ventilation hose to air cleaner hose and purge line hose to clamp then attaching 2 purge VSV vacuum hoses with the purge VSV connector and mass air flow meter connector. The next part of the installation includes the air cleaner inlet assembly and engine coolant addition followed by leak tests before sub-assembly installation of the No. 1 engine cover.

Starting the procedure to remove the throttle body from the 2AZ-FE engine control system requires draining the engine coolant first. Before beginning the negative battery terminal disconnect procedure it is essential to wait at least 90 seconds to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. The removal of No. 1 engine cover starts with unfastening two nuts. The air cleaner cap removal procedure starts by disconnecting the mass air flow meter connector along with the purge VSV connector and 4 wire harness clamps. Disconnection of the No. 2 ventilation hose from the air cleaner hose and purge line hose from the clamp completes the process. To access the throttle body the technician should first apply the No. 1 air cleaner clamp while disconnecting its hose from the throttle body before removing the 2 hook clamps and taking out the air cleaner cap and its filter element from the air filter housing. Remove the throttle body by disconnecting the purge line hose together with the water by-pass hose and the No. 2 water by-pass hose and the No. 1 throttle body hose from its position. During the service procedure the mechanic must disconnect the throttle position sensor and control motor connector as well as the wire harness clamp and the fuel tube from the clamp. Finishing the operation involves removing the gasket from the intake manifold after you disassemble the fuel pipe support and throttle body with their four bolts.

Before extracting the throttle body from the 2GR-FE engine control system start by detaching the windshield wiper motor assembly followed by the removal of the front outer cowl top panel sub-assembly. The first task consists of draining engine coolant before proceeding with V-bank cover sub-assembly extraction. Start by taking off the No. 2 air cleaner inlet and then proceed to the No. 1 air cleaner inlet removal. When servicing the air cleaner cap sub-assembly disconnect the 3 vacuum hoses while removing the No. 2 ventilation hose alongside the air cleaner hose band before detaching the EVAP vacuum hose from the air cleaner hose and removing the mass air flow meter connector and the 2 bolts securing the assembly in place. Remove the air cleaner case sub-assembly following other steps. The final step to remove the throttle body requires disconnecting the throttle body connector and clamp, disconnecting 2 water by-pass hoses, removing 4 bolts from the throttle body and removing the throttle body gasket from the intake air surge tank.

Add engine coolant and inspect for any coolant leaks.

Install the air cleaner case sub-assembly.

Install the throttle w/motor body assembly and wire harness clamp stay using the four bolts, torqued to 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf), and reconnect the throttle w/motor body assembly connector.

Place a new throttle body gasket onto the intake air surge tank.

Connect the throttle w/ motor body assembly connector.

Remove the two bolts and the air cleaner cap, followed by the air cleaner filter element from the air cleaner case.

Connect the fuel tube into the clamp, the throttle position sensor connector, and the wire harness clamp.

Disconnect the fuel tube from the clamp.

Take out the windshield wiper motor and link, then separate the ejector tube.

Connect the purge line hose, water by-pass hose, No. 2 water by-pass hose, and No. 1 throttle body hose.

Align the matchmarks of the No. 1 air cleaner hose with the throttle body, connect the hose, and ensure the hose clamp is at the correct angle.

Place a new throttle body gasket onto the intake air surge tank.

Install the air cleaner filter element onto the air cleaner case, insert the hinge part of the air cleaner cap into the case, and hang the 2 hook clamps.

Connect the vacuum hose (EVAP) to the air cleaner hose.

Remove the windshield wiper motor assembly, front outer cowl top panel subassembly, and drain the engine coolant.

Install the No. 1 and No. 2 air cleaner inlets.

Perform a road test to confirm there are no abnormalities.
